Argumentative text 8CD 1

Think of something that you don't like and would like to change. 
You need to find arguments for and against. You can talk to someone at home or google !  Here you can find an example of an argumentative text that a pupil year 7 has written: Refugees welcome?

- Does the headline draw your attention?
- Do you understand why the author has written this text? 

- Which is the author's point of view? 

- What arguments for and against his/her point of view are you able to find?
- Can you find any linking words ? Where and how has the author used them? 
- Can you find any words that express the author's feelings about the subject

After the spring break, you are going to write your own text. I don't want you to write at home, but please think of a subject that you would like to write about. You need to write at least one A4 page size 12. I want you to follow the structure of an argumentative text - take a look at the picture below. I also want you to include linking words and show me that you know how to use them.

Thursday week 14

Assessment: 

Individually - write an argumentative text. Minimum 300 words. 

You will write in ChromEx, which means that you have no access to the internet.

Essay topics:

Mobiles phones should be banned in schools for both students and teachers
All students should wear uniforms in school. 
School must start two hours later, because students are very tired 
Separating boys and girls help them perform better in school 
Parents must limit how much time their children spend on tech devices - two hours per day is enough
Mobile phones should be banned during the whole school day 
Grades are not necessary - children study anyway
Homework should be forbidden 
Schools should offer cash bonuses for good test scores

If you would like to write about something that you can't find on the list - feel free to do so! 

Use the picture to help you, but don't answer the questions one by one.
