Write a letter to your future self!

Week 37

What do you think your life will be like when you finish your three years at Furutorpskolan?
Do you have any future plans?

Now you are going to write your letter to your future self. When we see each other I will show you some good examples! We will then take a closer look at how to write a letter. How do you start and end a letter? What phrases could be useful?
We are going to help each other with the first letter and then you are going to write individually.
Don't worry if you read this in advance - I will show you everything in class!
When we write we use Google Document and you will write your first letter together. I will show you how to do it on Monday. Always remember to share your document with me: sarasv74@gmail.com.

Letter to future self

Write a letter to your future self. You will receive the letter by the time you are 50 years old in year 2049 or 2050. Your letter should be about 1 A4 page 12 point font size (about 450-600 words).

Write the letter just as you would to your best friend. If you want to you can write like Kim is doing and insert pictures.

You can find a model text here: http://alettertomyself.com/

Here are a few suggestions for what you could include;

  • How do you feel at this moment in your life?
  • What are some hopes and dreams you have for the future?
  • What goals would you like to have accomplished?
  • What do you find hard in your life right now? How do feel about that in the future do you think?
  • What are the positives and negatives in your life now?

  • Favourite things. What do you like most today? What are your favorite movies, books, television shows, songs, moments, people, celebrations, surprises, lessons, quotations or achievements?
  • Important questions and feelings. What are the big unanswered questions currently in your mind? How do you feel about your life and the world around you? What do you enjoy about today? What are you thankful for?
  • Goals and aspirations. What is the vision for your future life? What are the things you’re looking forward to? What are your hopes for your future self? How much or in what way do you expect to be different when you get the letter?
  • Highlights of the past year. Which funny facts do you want to remember or laugh about in the future? What were this year’s best things/worst things that happened to you? How would you describe this year in one sentence? In one word?
  • Lessons learned and advice for yourself. What advice would you give to your future self? What important lesson did you learn recently and don’t want to forget?

The idea above is inspired by Selin Aksu. Thanks!
