Today, Wednesday,  we are going to discuss the questions you have worked with.

a) Why does Emma suggest they celebrate and have a party? 

b) Manni is really nervous about going to his first day of training. How did he do? 

c) Emma wants to change her career. What would she like to do instead?

f) Paul is not being nice to Manni. In what ways?

g) Alex says at the end of the episode ”I am this close to sending you back home” to Manni. Why?



We will then watch episode 3. While you are watching - write down words you don't know. 



Work in pairs and talk about the questions. Please, take notes while you are talking so you later can tell the whole class. l

Dead-line on Wednesday

Hope you are having a great weekend! I can see that 5 of you haven't published the logline. Please do that before Tuesday this week.

Dead-line for your short-story is on Wednesday on the 14th of May. This will be your last writing task so please make sure you are finished when the lesson ends on Wednesday.
On Thursday we are going to change essays and give each other feedback.

As you know I am in Stockholm this week, but I am sure that André will do his very best to take care of you. This is what I want you to do during the lessons on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

5. Manni has to move to England to make his dream, as a football player, come true.  How would you feel

We have worked with the short story The Great Satan. Now it is time for you to write you own short stories.

First of all watch this: ( I am afraid that it is in swedish but I have to admit: I didn't have time make one)



1. Find inspiration and gather ideas
Use www.padlet.com or a Google Drive document if you want to.

 If you don't know what to write about you can try doing this: ( If you already know what to write about you can skip this part and move on to step 2)
1. Write down 5 words (things)
2. Write down 3 places you like
3. Write down 3 things that you are afraid of
4. Write down 3 names of people you really dislike - famous people or not - it doesn't matter
5. Write down 3 names of people you really like - famous people or not - it doesn't matter

You have now made 5 lists with words - take a minute and underline one word from every list.
Use the underlined words and you have:

One thing that is important in your short story
a fear
an environment
a good character
an evil character

 2. Write a  “logline” by describing what happens in your short story with only one sentence. A logline is also very useful when you are writing a script for a film.

Your character + something that describes your character and environment + action + conflict

Here is an example:

A 17th Century tale of adventure on the Caribbean Sea where the roguish yet charming Captain Jack Sparrow joins forces with a young blacksmith in a gallant attempt to rescue the Governor of England's daughter and reclaim his ship.

Which film is it? 

Another example: 

 A young man and woman from different social classes fall in love aboard an ill-fated voyage at sea.

På torsdag ska ni göra ett läs och hörförståelsetest. Det kommer att ta hela lektionen. Kom ihåg penna och suddi. 

Om ni inte kommer ihåg texten The Great Satan behöver ni läsa den igen. Vi ska arbeta med texten onsdag v 18. Ni ska också få lära er hur man skriver en egen novell. 

Tänk på - det engelska ordet för novell är short story

Under v 17 kommer jag att lägga upp en flippfilm om hur man skriver en novell. Håll utkik så att ni har sett filmen före onsdag 7/5. 

Ni kommer först att skriva i grupp och få hjälpa varandra - därefter kommer ni att skriva en enskild novell. 

Det ni skriver i gruppen är ett övningstillfälle och den enskilda novellen är ett bedömningstillfälle. 

Redan nu kan ni börja fundera över vad ni vill skriva om. Det finns massor av tips om ni googlar "how to write a short story".

Cecilia Wikström - a member of the European Parliament

On Wednesday Cecilia Wikström will pay us a visit. She is going to meet us  for about an hour. She is interested in the flipped classroom and what we do in class.

I want  you to think of why you like or dislike the flipped classroom so that we can tell her about it when we meet her.

To get to know her a bit more I have made a film for you. Please, have a look before Wednesday.

By the way - in the film I say that she has worked as a priest since 1994. You do understand that you can't  work as a priest and as a member of Parliament at the same time, right?!

The Great Satan - reading comprehension

Now when you have read the text " The Great Satan" I want you to choose two questions to answer before Wednesday. The rest we will work with together in class.
 Answer the questions by writing it as a comment in http://thecolourofthehumanheart.se/ Write the number of the question in the comment 
If you can't make it work on-line - you can hand it in when the lesson starts on Wednesday. 

1. Why did Asma's family move away from their old neighbourhood?
2. Why does Asma describe her sister as a "superwoman"?

To develop your reading you need to practise "reading between the lines".

The Great Satan - Introduction

For today I wanted you to think of the title " The Great Satan" . I also told you to think about where in the world you thought we were.

1. Discuss in pairs:
- What do you think of when you hear the word "The Great Satan"?
- Where in the world do you think we are? Motivate why.
- Take a look at the picture of the main-character. Who do you think she is?
How does she feel? Motivate your opinions.

2. We are going to read the first pages together. While I read the text I want you to underline words and phrases you don't know.

3. Discuss in pairs:
- When you don't know the meaning of a word or phrase and you don't have a dictionary or smartphone. What can you do to understand? What strategies can you use?

3. Continue reading the text in pairs. I want you to be able to discuss the text when we see each other tomorrow - Thursday. To be able to do this you need to work with the text at home. Read the text again and make sure you understand most of it.

Today are you going to work in pairs and tell each other about Roald Dahl.

We will also work with this Venn diagram.

1. In the left circle you write down words that describe Cinderella as we know the story.
2. In the right circle you write down words that describe Cinderella in Roald Dahl's story.
3. In the middle you write down words that describe what are the same in the two stories.

4. Work in pairs and help each other to fill in the missing words in the text. You will get the text when we see each other. 

5. Roald Dahl kept all sorts of notes and lists to help him when he wrote his stories.

Words that have the same or very similar meanings are called synonyms.

At the beginning of his career as a writer, Roald Dahl collected lists of words in 

an old school notebook. “When you’re describing something or someone,” he said, 

“you can’t just choose dull words like beautiful, pretty or nice. You must search for 

more meaty and imaginative words.”

Here is a list of words Roald Dahl collected under the heading   Beautiful 

 Now, make a list of all the words you can think of that mean the same as:

Use a word-list or your smartphone. The pair that have most correct words in the list will win a fine price!

Imorgon kommer ni få 20 minuter i början av lektionen till att sammanställa era grammatikfilmer. 

Ni som är färdiga ska konstruera små test till 5orna. Ett par bra sidor för detta är:

Eng 7 - Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl

Last week we listened to and read the story about Horrid Henry and his brother Perfect Peter. This week we will start with another horrid theme: Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl.

Have you ever heard of Roald Dahl before?

Here you can watch a presentation of him. To watch a Prezi you need to click on the right arrow to move forward. At the end there is a movie. Start it by clicking in the left corner of the movie. Don´t worry if you don't understand everything. We will work with it when we see each other.

Arbetsgång: 

Titta längst bak i din workbook. Där hittar du förklaringar samt uppgifter till just ditt grammatikområde. 

Lär dig reglerna. Gör uppgifterna som tillhör. 

Bestäm er för vilket verktyg och vilket program ni ska använda ipad eller dator. Motivera varför.

Gör ett manus över vad ni ska säga. Att tala svenska är ok. 

Att ha meningar som eleverna kan träna på i slutet av filmen med facit till är bra. Eller tänk ut något eget förslag för extra träning. 

Spela in er film.
