Geronimo - is a well-known song that you like. Do you know the meaning of this song? Who was Geronimo? What does "Say Geronimo" mean?

Today we will start reading a book called:
" The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian.

Read the head-line and then take a look at picture:

Pre-reading activities: 

Work in groups of four.
Group 1 - question: 1 
Group 2 - question: 2 and 3 
Group 3 - question: 4 and 5 
Group 4 - question: 6 and 7

Be able to tell the rest of the class the answers. 

Use the internet and try to find out the answers to the questions below: 

1. What countries colonised North America? What does "colonise another country" mean?
2. How come the native inhabitants of North America were called Indians? 
3. What is a reservation? 
4. Why were reservations created? 
5. Who are the Spokanes?
6. Where do they live? 
7. What is life like on the reservations today? 

We are going to listen to the first chapter together. 

Homework for Tuesday January 17: Listen to and read chapter 2.
