Speaking and writing - Agony Aunt

The Anonymous Agony Aunt Box 📬

Instructions for students:

  1. Write anonymously: Choose three of the letters above. Write your best, most thoughtful piece of advice on a small piece of paper. Write at least 10 sentences. Make sure spelling and grammar are correct.  Do not write your name on it!

  2. The Question Box: Fold your paper and drop it into our physical "Agony Aunt Box" on the teacher's desk.

  3. Sara will read all your answers. Next time:

  4. The Lucky Draw: Today we are going to do a blind draw! One by one, we will draw a random piece of paper from the box, read the advice out loud to the class, and talk about the different perspectives. Let's see whose wisdom we pull out!

A.

Dear students,

Last Saturday I was at a party. There I saw my best friend's girlfriend with this other guy. My friend was out of town this weekend. I don't know should I tell my friend about what I saw or should I just shut up? What is your advice?

Best regards

Confused...

B.

Dear students,

There is this boy at school... I like him and I think he likes me too, but we don't have the guts telling each other. So what happens is that he goes out with any other girl who asks him out. What can I do? I tried to ask my brother, but he doesn't care at all... Please help me!

Best regards

Tears at night

C.

Dear all,

I am a guy and I have a problem. I have never been with a girl. I don't know how to get in contact with them either. I am not so good at flirting. If, and I mean IF I would get close to a girl I wouldn't have the slightest idea of what to do. Please help me!

Best regards

Lonely Guy

D.

Dear students,

I have a huge crush on a guy in my class, but I am terrified of what people might say. I haven't come out to most of my friends or family yet, and I don't even know if he likes boys. Sometimes it feels like it would be easier to just hide it, but it hurts keeping it all inside. What should I do?

Best regards

Secret Admirer

E.

Dear all,

My family moved here from another country a few months ago, and everything is still so different. I speak the language okay, but I feel like I don't really fit in with the unwritten rules and jokes in school. Sometimes I feel invisible, and other times I feel like everyone is staring at my background. How can I find my place here?

Best regards

New Kid in Town

F.

Dear students,

Everyone expects me to act a certain way because I am a girl who is into sports and gaming, while some of my male friends get teased just because they prefer art and dancing over football. Why do people care so much about what girls and boys "should" do? How do we stop caring about these annoying stereotypes?

Best regards
